Our Roots

The Story Behind The Inner Growth Path Blog

The Inner Growth Path was born from a deeply personal need to process trauma and reclaim a sense of self. After years of silence, the founder began sharing their journey as a police officer navigating mental health challenges and betrayal. This blog is a reflection of that journey, evolved into a space for fostering genuine conversations and community, helping others know they are not alone in their struggles.

About Me – Sarah Taylor

A Journey Through Trauma, Healing, and Coming Home to Self

Hi, I’m Sarah Taylor. I’m a 37-year-old woman living in Australia, and this space is my soul laid bare—a place for healing through storytelling, conscious conversations, and the power of shared human experience.

I created this blog because I believe in the transformative power of truth. And I believe that none of us are ever truly alone—especially when we share our stories, ask the hard questions, and open up space for compassion, connection, and growth.

My Background: From Service to Self-Reclamation

Since I was young, I’ve had a deep sense of justice, integrity, and a desire to help others. My father served in the police for nearly 20 years, and watching him shaped my path. I earned degrees in Justice and Legal Studies, and later Law, working in the legal system before finally joining the police service in my late twenties.

Becoming a police officer was a dream fulfilled. I loved being in service. But after nearly a decade on the front line, I found myself face-to-face with trauma I wasn’t equipped to carry. Policing can come with a silent weight, and in my final year, I experienced a series of events that led to PTSD—something I’m still learning to live with every day.

Navigating Trauma, Infidelity, and Rediscovery

During one of the hardest chapters of my life, I was diagnosed with PTSD—and needed support more than ever. Instead, I was met with betrayal. My marriage ended after my wife, someone I trusted deeply, was unfaithful—with someone I also considered a friend.

That heartbreak, layered over years of trauma, broke me open. And in that opening, something new began. I started writing. At first just for myself—but then I realised I wasn’t the only one navigating pain, loss, identity shifts, and questions like:

Who am I beneath the programming?
What does it mean to heal after betrayal?
How do we reclaim our voice after trauma?
